Mountain Creek teamed up with Foodstock which is a collaboration between the United Way of Northern New Jersey, New Jersey Herald, and Pass It Along to offer a day of charity and giving in honor of Sussex County Day at the Waterpark.
To show appreciation to local residents, Mountain Creek celebrated “Sussex County Day” on Thursday and Friday, June 23-24. All Sussex residents received free admission to Mountain Creek Waterpark’s 25+ rides, slides and attractions for the day with proof of I.D. In return, Mountain Creek asked guests and employees to continue to spread the love by donating non-perishable food items to help re-stock local food pantries.
Thursday and Friday’s ideal weather prompted many local families and groups of young friends to visit Mountain Creek to celebrate the end of the school year and kick off summer with a day of fun in the sun.
"My wife Kari recently volunteered at the Sussex Food Bank and was concerned at how empty the shelves were. We know this is a resource our county neighbors rely on. We have the means to mobilize a large number of people to help, and are overwhelmed by the response," said Bill Benneyan, president of Mountain Creek.
In total over 2000, Sussex County Residents received complimentary $46 waterpark passes.
Director of Operations Jason Bays added "as the newest member of the Mountain Creek management team I was thrilled to see so many people come out and enjoy our great Waterpark. I talked to many who hadn't been here for years, or ever. I hope now that they've seen this beautifully unique asset right in their backyard they'll visit all summer, and year-round!"
Participants from Sussex County were eligible for a special $49.99 season pass. There are 67 more operating days through Labor Day at the local park this summer, which has been predicted to be one of the warmest summers in the past 3 years.
“Mountain Creek’s participation in FoodStock is a great example of a successful community partnership that results in critical support getting to Sussex County families who are working hard, but struggle to make ends meet,” said United Way Community Impact Coordinator Sean Hyland. “We thank Mountain Creek and donors for helping to reduce hunger among our neighbors during the summer months.”
