With pond and garden tours going full-speed-ahead around Sussex County, one might also consider driving past the Vernon home of John and Camille Westermajer at 13 Black Walnut Mountain Road, just off Drew Mountain Road near the bottom of the long hill.
According to Mr. Westermajer, the gardens surrounding his home include some 32 species of perennials including tiger lily, allium, buttercups, wild roses, and hostas to name but a few.
Although not easily viewed from the roadway, the park-like setting behind their home includes waterfalls and stone paths that crisscross through the yard. Within the gardens and around the waterfalls are a collection of whimsical and classical sculptures and ornaments.
The home is also widely known for its annual Christmas decorations that start to appear after Thanksgiving.
