Chatterbox hosts veterans and bikers

In addition to the many motorcycles that rally to the Chatterbox Drive-in for “Bike Night,” last Thursday evening was extra special with Veterans Administration representatives and service organizations coming to meet with area veterans.
Speaking with people who try hard to make veterans aware of the many benefits and programs for which they are eligible, most agree that getting the word out to veterans is the hardest part of their jobs. Evenings like the one at the Chatterbox are an effort to get veterans to take the time and necessary steps to qualify for the many programs that are available to them.
Groups attending the event included the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs from Lyons, the New Jersey Department of Military Affairs, Catholic Family and Community Services, the Sussex County Division of Senior Services, Project Help, and the Sussex County Municipal Alliance.
Each veteran who attended was also given a $5 food voucher.
For all veterans, Sussex County’s Fourth Annual Veterans Picnic will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, at American Legion Post 213 on Route 23 in Wantage.
