Richard Karl Peter Sr. of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., died on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at home. He was 77.
Son of the late Henry and Mary (Herzog) Peter, he was born Oct. 3, 1938, in Greenbrook, N.J. He married to Donna Lee Van Kirk on Feb. 4, 1961.
He was retired from Panco Gas Co. in Pine Island, N.Y.; former owner of Car Doctor Auto Repair in Newton, N.J., Simon Peter Sport Co. in Newton, N.J., and Just Add Water in Dingmans Ferry.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1956 to 1959' and member of the Hardyston VFW Post in New Jersey and Harmony F&AM Lodge #8, Andover, N.J.
Survivors include his wife; son, the Rev. Richard K. Peter Jr. and his wife, Terri, of Wantage, N.J.; daughters, Cindy Bachmann and her husband, Timothy Sr., of Milford, Pa., Karen Gerth and her husband, David, of Frenchtown, N.J., and Brenda Evans and her husband, Todd Sr., of Dingmans Ferry; grandchildren, Timothy Bachmann Jr. and his wife, Sarah, of Dingmans Ferry, Amanda Bachmann of Stanford, Conn., Erika Adames and her husband, Matthew, of Milford, Austin Peter and his wife, Barbara Venezia, of Wantage, N.J., Abraham and Elijah Gerth of Frenchtown, N.J., and Todd Evans Jr. of Dingmans Ferry; great-grandchildren, Oliver and Lilly Bachmann; and brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Tranquility United Methodist Church in Andover, N.J., on June 26.
