Nancy B. Willoughby

    Nancy B. Willoughby, age 77, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016, in New York City. A resident of Lake Neepaulin, she was born in Bombay, India, to the late Pesi and Tehmina (Mistry) Bharucha, Ms. Willoughby came to the United States in 1959. She was a scholarship student at Harvard University and Radcliff College, studying Nuclear and Mechanical Engineering. She earned her Professional Engineer's License and has been employed by Picatinny Arsenal, Con-Edison, New York State, Bechtel Corporation and the New York City Department of Design and Construction, where she was Deputy Director for Manhattan Construction.
    Her career involved many interesting projects, including radiation effects on munition components, nuclear power plant construction and licensing and infrastructure work in Manhattan, culminating in the re-construction of Columbus Circle. She was a member of the American Nuclear Society, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Experimental Aircraft Association and other professional groups. A lover of ballet, she took classes under the tutelage of Igor Youskevich and also loved classical music, particularly Strauss Waltzes and the Radetzky March. She also obtained her Private Pilot's License. She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Richard Aaron; her sister, Rita Phansalkar and her son, Stephan of Santa Monica, California; and her brother-in-law, Pesi Irani of Sydney, Australia. Private cremation services have been entrusted to the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex.
