Sussex committee plans chenstnut harvest

The Clove Lake Maintenance Committee will conduct its second annual water chestnut harvest at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Not to be confused with the Asian water chestnut, this Water Chestnut is an invasive plant species that, left uncontrolled, spreads rapidly and causes damage to lake ecosystems. Each plant can produce up to 120 new plants and their seeds can remain dormant for as long as 12 years.
Volunteers who have their own boats are encouraged to contact the committee and join come to Lake Shore Drive at 10 a.m.
