Helga Johanna Hentschel, 74, of Vernon, passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016. Helga was born in Essen, Germany, came to the United States in 1952 to New York City and settled in Bergenfield, before moving to Vernon eight years ago. She was born on Dec. 16, 1941, to Gerhard and Johanna (nee Lohle) Quedens.
Helga was a homemaker and enjoyed her family and attending her grandsons' tennis matches.
Helga was married for 50 years to her loving husband, Manfred, the devoted mother of Renate Rapp and her husband, Richard, of Vernon and Gerhard Hentschel and his wife, Indira, of San Francisco, Calif., and her cherished grandson, Christof Rapp. She is also survived by her brother, Gerhard Quedens, of Cropwell, Ala., and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday, July 16, for memorial visitation from 1-3 p.m. at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94, Vernon (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Ct.). Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis National Research Foundation or curearthritis.org.
