Matt Chastain from Vernon High School will be featured, along with the rest of their six-person a cappella group, The Hexachords, in Season 2 of the hit Pop TV docuseries, “Sing It On.” Chastain was a member of the class of 2012 and was very active in the music program in Vernon, including theatre, choir and band. His experience at Vernon High School, and his teachers, prompted his love for a music career as he headed to UMASS.
The Hexachords, a six person a cappella group from UMASS Amherst, is one of four featured groups in season two of the hit Pop TV docuseries, “Sing It On.” The show will air on Wednesdays beginning July 27, for eight weeks on POP TV. “Sing It On” follows teams as they compete to win the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella, and lists international music star, John Legend, as its Executive Producer.
“Sing It On will introduce The Hexachords and their music to a tremendous fan base of a cappella enthusiasts, and we are all really excited to be a part of it,” said Craig Simonetti, The Hexachord’s founder and music director. “Last year’s season of Sing It On was a huge launch pad for Northeastern University’s Nor’Easters, and we’re hoping that it will do the same for us.”
The Hexachords are comprised of six UMASS Amherst students, including Craig Simonetti, a graduate of Salem High School, Alexander Teplansky and Linnea Henningson, both graduates of Algonquin Regional High School, Katy Geraghty, a graduate of Gloucester High School, Brandon Heatherington, a graduate of Uxbridge High School and Matt Chastain, a graduate of Vernon Township High School.
The Hexachords recorded their first full-length album this month, which is set for release in September.
