Stags win home opener, go to 2-0

— The Sussex Stags defeated the Plattsburgh North Stars (Plattsburgh, New York) on Saturday, July 16. The final score was 36-14. The Empire Football League game took place at Newton High School in Newton.
Sussex Stags running back Ben Cramer wore out the Plattsburgh North Stars with some dazzling foot work. Cramer, a 2014 Newton High School graduate scored four touchdowns.
The Stags defense did their part by keeping Plattsburgh North Stars out of the end zone for three quarters. The Stags defense kept the Plattsburgh North Stars quarterback Tre Bucci on the run continuously. Stags defensive back Tony Bell intercepted a pass. Sussex hard hitting also made Plattsburgh cough up the ball resulting in three fumbles.
The win is the second straight for the Stags. They opened up the season in an away game against the Mohawk Valley Titans on July 9. The Sussex Stags dominated their opponent by the score of 42-7.
Before the Plattsburgh North Stars got humbled by the Sussex Stags, they managed to crush their opponent in the season opener. On July 9 the North Stars shut down the Seaway Valley Venom (Massena, New York) in a 27-0 rout.
