Skylands Gallery invites us to see things of beauty

The Skylands Gallery & Studio, which exhibits fine art and artisan artworks for its members, had its first open call to all regional artists.
Artists were invited to submit artwork that exemplifies the belief that “A Thing of Beauty” still exists beside the troubles and chaos of the world around us. The result is an impressive show with the addition of 12 artists from the counties of Bergen, Morris, Sussex, Union, and Orange County, N.Y. exhibiting artwork alongside the resident member’s works. The exhibit is such a success that open calls for artists are scheduled to continue.
A free opening reception for the show was held last Friday from 6-10. During the opening, complimentary food and beverages were served, while the ambient melodies by guitarist Evan Teatum of Goshen, N.Y. added a beauty of their own. The exhibit, which includes fine paintings, photography, fiber, metal work, mixed media, and high quality crafts, will continue until Sept. 4. The opening for the next show entitled “What Gets You Fired Up?” is on September 17 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Artists interested in participating in the open call, should contact the gallery. • Skylands Gallery & Studio is located in the Town Center at Wantage, 7 Boulder Hills Boulevard (off Rt. 23 South).
