You don’t have to be a great golfer to have fun at the regular 9 n Dine Golf Tournaments hosted by the Crystal Springs Golf Resort at the Ballyowen Golf Club on Thursday evenings and the Black Bear Golf Club on Friday evenings starting at 4 p.m.
Whether having fun on the golf course or socializing in the Owen’s Pub following golf for a delicious buffet dinner prepared by Andy Lagana and his staff or waiting for the awards ceremony hosted by Event Coordinator James Fox, the participants in the tournament found the event an enjoyable way to spend the late afternoon with friends and family.
One team competing in the 9 n Dine Tournament at Ballyowen represented 3 generations of golfers, granddad Joe Meola aged 77, daughters Dana Meola and Jodi Little, and grandson Tanner Little aged 13. Other 9 n Dine Scramble teams combined lady and men golfers, all contributing to the team’s quest for the win. The team of Anita Jennings, Shirley Paulino, Judy Mett and George Henderson had fun watching their teammate Shirley Paulino hit the long drive that won her the Lady’s Long Drive prize.
The 9 n Dine Tournament is played following a 4-golfer scramble format with the team that records the best combined score being declared the event winner. While much of the tournament was played under grey skies and the threat of rain, the golfers completed their 9 holes without getting wet.
Prizes were also awarded to the best performers in the long drive and closest to the pin skill competitions. The closest to the pin winner was Robbie Donnelly. Ladies long drive honors when to Shirley Paulino on hole #5 with Frank Schneider taking the Men’s long drive prize.
