Sussex church plans relief concert

| 03 Aug 2016 | 01:02

Sussex Christian Reformed Church will be hosting a Benefit Concert on Saturday, August 13th, at 7:00 P.M. commemorating the 5th anniversary of the March 11, 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami in which 20,000 people perished, and the recent Kumamoto volcanic eruption and earthquake that happened in southern Japan in April. Admission is free, but there will be a free-will offering for ongoing relief efforts.
Those in America who do not live on the Pacific rim, the so-called “Ring of Fire,” can scarcely imagine flaming volcanos, a magnitude 9 earthquake, or a tsunami that reached 100 feet high in some areas. Members of the Young family, former missionaries to Japan, and three families from the Tokyo Area, the Yoshinos, Nakagawas, and Ieyamas, will perform an instrumental and vocal concert that promises an unforgettable evening. Some of the performers are conservatory-trained, some are in the stage of childhood Suzuki violin training, some in the Tokyo Youth Choir. There will also be a presentation about these natural disasters by Mr. Yoshino. Invite your friends and neighbors.
Sussex CRC is located at 49 Unionville Ave., Sussex N.J. For more information, contact us at sussexcr@sussexcrc.org or call 973-875-5591.
