Vernon Valley Farm plans salsa workshop

    Vernon Valley Farm, a community-minded local working farm that practices a holistic, chemical and hormone free approach to grass-fed beef, pastured pork, chickens, eggs, and vegetables, will partner with the (FCHS) Family and Community Health Sciences extension of Rutgers University to host a “Salsa/Canning Workshop” on Wednesday, Aug. 24,, rain or shine, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the farm.
    The class is limited to 15 people. Registration is required by Aug 22. The cost is $15 and includes a pint size jar of the salsa made in class, refreshments, and a farm tour.
    Daryl Minch, educator, from (FCHS); will lead the hands-on canning workshop. Participants will help make and can salsa in glass jars. Learn why safety is critical; sources for safe and reliable recipes; about the different equipment; and proper techniques.
