Lounsberry Hollow Middle School was the setting for a series of active shooter drills on Saturday, Aug. 6.
In a repeat of similar drills held at various other Vernon schools, the purpose of the annual drills is to be finely honed to handle unspeakable situations that have occurred in other school districts across the country.
Detective Daniel S. Young was the coordinator of the drills held throughout the morning.
According to Captain Daniel B. Young, “We continue to have an excellent working relationship with the Vernon Township Board of Education and the head of school security, Jim Barta.”
Vernon Police Officers performed a total of five scenarios throughout the morning. According to Captain Young, these types of drills are critical in preparing the police officers for tactical responses.
