Centenary Stage plans adult acting workshop

HACKETTSTOWN — The professional Centenary Stage Company (CSC), the regional theatre in residence on the campus of Centenary University, will offer an Adult Acting Workshop this fall, open to the public.
CSC Artistic Director Carl Wallnau will lead the class entitled “From Shakespeare to Coward”, which will focus on style, technique and language. The class will be held on Monday nights from 6:30 p.m.–9 p.m. beginning Aug. 31 and ending Dec 19.
The cost of the 15-week session is $250. This workshop is suitable for amateur and experienced actors.
In addition to serving as Founding Artistic Director of the Equity theatre series, Wallnau is also the acting Chair of the Fine Arts Department at Centenary University. As an actor he has worked at numerous regional theatres including Paper Mill Playhouse, Second Stage in NYC, People’s Light, The Arden Theatre, York Musical Theatre, NYMF Festival, The Lark Theatre, The Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival (where he was seen this summer in Taming of the Shrew and Blithe Spirit), Hartford Stage, Bristol Riverside, Forum Theatre, Premiere Stages, Orlando Shakespeare Company, Theatre 1812, Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Foothills Playhouse and 14 months on the road with the First National Tour of TITANIC. He has directed over 60 productions including The English Bride, which recently had its New York premiere at 59e59 Theatres. He has been cited for outstanding direction in productions of The Liar, Springtime For Henry, Engaged, The Ladies Man, Deathtrap and Pygmalion and has directed in numerous regional theatres including Hartford Theatre Works and Musical Theatre Works and Barnstormers. Wallnau holds an MFA from Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts .
