Skylands Stadium bringing the beach

| 19 Aug 2016 | 12:42

Why endure the traffic and congestion on the parkway just to get to the beach for one last summer getaway? Skylands Stadium wants to make it easier to enjoy the end of summer. This August 27 and 28, the beach comes to Sussex County, as Skylands Stadium hosts its first ever Summer Fest: Backyard Beach Bash.
Bring your favorite shades and bathing suit to enjoy an end-of-summer blowout right in your own backyard. The Summer Fest will feature games for the whole family with a giant sized water slide, a kids water slide along with beach games like giant connect four and a water balloon toss. Take a walk along the boardwalk and test your luck at classic carnival games or create an old school Spin Art masterpiece.
Want to play something new and win cool prizes? The All-New Skylands Stadium is bringing Knockerball to Summer Fest. Step inside a giant inflatable ball and run full speed at your friend. You’ll laugh as you and your friend bounce off each other inside the inflatable “Thunder Dome” for the last man standing competition to win great summer-themed prizes.
Summer Fest will also feature classic games and entertainment for kids of all ages. Bounce to your heart’s content in a giant bounce house and take a train ride on the Miners Express, the official trackless train of the Sussex County Miners professional baseball team. All the fun and excitement is available for your enjoyment in The Backyard Place, the new play and party zone at Skylands Stadium.
Food and drinks will be plentiful at the ballpark throughout this, two-day event. Food trucks from local vendors will be parked around the ballpark for you to enjoy delicious local eats and cool off with delicious frozen drinks at The Tiki Hut Station with beverages for young and old. A selection of craft beers are also available and live music from Wind Up Monkey will get the party started on Saturday.
The party will be held rain or shine and will go from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 28. Stick around on Saturday to watch the Sussex County Miners take on the Rockland Boulders with first pitch at 7 p.m. A spectacular fireworks show will follow the ballgame. Parking is free and paid admission for Summer Fest includes five free activity tickets. Tickets are only $10 and you can receive $2 off by printing a Backyard Beach Bash coupon on SkylandsStadium.com.
