Graceful and daring at the same time, Morgan Mulvaney, 12, performs off the float during the lake communityþÄôs annual Water Carnival.

The bobbing for M&Ms covered with whipped cream contest is one of the kidsþÄô favorite parts of the water carnival.

Following the water balloon toss, rather than using Gatorade, the kids poured a large bucket of cold water on head lifeguard Zoe Smolder.

The water balloon toss ended in a free-for-all water balloon fight.

A little sibling rivalry added with whipped cream made it fun for head lifeguard Zoe Smolder, 19, and her lifeguard brother Zackary.

The children searched the shallows for pennies wrapped in aluminum foil.
VERNON — Last Tuesday afternoon, about two dozen Barry Lakes children along with their watchful parents and in some cases grandparents, enjoyed a the annual tradition of the lake community’s Water Carnival.
Although a bit cloudy, the day was a success as the sun occasionally burned through. There was a wide selection of activities including Hula-Hoop lessons, water balloon tosses, sand castle contest, and bobbing for M&Ms covered with whipped cream.
In addition to snacks throughout the afternoon, plenty of tasty pizza pies helped to keep the children and adults happy. The lake community’s summer season will end on Sunday, Sept. 4, with the residents’ annual Labor Day weekend community picnic.
