Vernon residents Frank Macherone and Rosa Saunders are shown on the dance floor.

Vernon Township Recreation Project Coordinator Mishelle Downtain got into the act by transporting food on roller skates.

Fred and Gloria Frato of Highland Lakes are shown attired in 50s garb for the annual Seniors picnic, which this year included a Sock Hop theme.

The dance floor was active throughout the three-hour event.

This pink Cadillac was the decoration that welcomed the seniors as they approached the PAL pavilion.
VERNON — On Monday some 75 seniors turned out for the annual Vernon Senior Citizens picnic held at the Vernon PAL pavilion. Special this year was a Sock Hop theme.
The barbeque included hotdogs and hamburgers, French fries, coleslaw, pickle slices and more. DJ Allan Boles of Lake Stockholm offered a wide selection of music for dancing while maintaining a predominantly 50s theme with the music he offered.
Vernon PAL and its various event offerings can be found at www.vernonpal.com or by calling their office at 973-764-9514. The pavilion is also available as a rental facility.
