Highland Lakes Budding and Amateur Art and Craft Show

Last Sunday afternoon, Highland Lakes Country Club and Community Association held its 57th consecutive Budding and Amateur Art and Craft Show and Awards.
Mary Ann Mastrangelo was again the volunteer chairwoman and, with significant help of Susan Schuck, Dawn McLaughlin and other volunteers, organized an inspiring community event, which included awards in various art categories and age groups. The categories that participants could enter were: paintings, drawings, computer graphics, photography, crafts, sculpture, needlework, and quilting. This year, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, the show included a special category, which was artwork in any media that featured a National Park.
This year the top award winners are as follows: Best In Show to Barbara Gellner (photograph); Best Highland Lakes Scene in Photography to Bonnie Thayler; Best Rendition of a Tree to Julia Heroux, age 11, (acrylic painting).
First Place Adult: Craft to John Thomsen; Painting to Mary Jane Wisniewski; Drawing to Joyce Healey; and Photography to Barbara Gellner.
irst Place Ages 14-18: Three-Dimensional to Sofia Mastrangelo; Mixed Media to Alivia Chaloupka; Photography to Alivia Chaloupka; Painting to Ally Latham; and Drawing/Mixed Media to Sara Gillooley.
First Place Ages 11-13: Needlework to Esme Clark; Three-Dimensional to Elizabeth Mastrangelo; Quilting to Julia Heroux; and Photography to Kilian Mann. • First Place Ages 8-10: Mixed Media to Julie Evanick and Needlework to Abbey Amato.
