Noreen Daly

| 06 Sep 2016 | 01:00

We lost our beautiful sister Noreen Daly unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 25, 2016. She was born in St Albans Naval Hospital Queens, N.Y., on May 24, 1954, while our mother was still in the service.
Noreen followed the footsteps of our aunt, a Bataan Angel Army nurse. She worked as a level one trauma nurse at St. Luke's Hospital on 114 St. in Harlem for many many years. She then went to Memorial Sloane Kettering bone marrow transplant unit. Later Noreen returned to (her second home) St Luke's with a public health nurse status working with staff she dearly cared for and the community who called her Miss Noreen. She was an avid reader and history buff.
Noreen is survived by siblings Billy and Kathleen Daly, Carl and Patricia Thompson and Jack Patrick Thompson all of Highland Lakes as well as Brian Daly of Hoboken and Kevin Daly of Riverdale N.Y. She is also survived by a niece Christine Daly pursuing her nursing degree. Many thanks to Vernon Twp. Police Department for their rapid response and compassion.
A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church 184 Breakneck Rd. Highland Lakes. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Vernon Twp. Ambulance Squad P.O. Box 236 Vernon, NJ 07462 or to Highland Lakes Fire Department 813 Canistear Rd. Highland Lakes, NJ 07422. Private cremation has been entrusted to Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94 Vernon. For online condolences and directions, please see www.fergusonvernonfuneralhome.com.
