    Joan Marie Izzo(nee Kingsbury), 81 years old, died peacefully after a long illness at Karen Ann Quinlan Home for Hospice, Fredon Twp., N.J., on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016. Born to Louis and Mary Murphy in Boston, Mass., she had lived in Haledon, N.J., before moving to the Highland Lakes section of Vernon Twp., NJ in 1970.
    Joan worked as a teacher’s aide at Glen Meadow and Cedar Mountain Schools in Vernon, N.J., for many years retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Highland Lakes Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for many years as well as the Women’s Club of Vernon. Joan was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Highland Lakes, NJ and enjoyed crafts and sewing.
    Joan was predeceased by her brother John Murphy and a sister, Sharon Giannelli and is the beloved wife for 46 years of Emil J. Izzo of Highland Lakes, N.J. Devoted mother of George Shaw and his wife, Liz, of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., Daniel Shaw of Franklin, N.J., Roy Shaw and his wife, Barbara, of York County, Va., Mark Izzo and his wife, Lorri, of Highland Lakes, N.J., Matthew Izzo and his wife, Vickie of Newport News, Va., Deborah Moran and her husband, Bob, of Warwick, N.Y., Cindy Kannon and her husband, Michael of Sugar Loaf, N.Y., and Lori Quirk of Sussex, N.J. Loving grandmother of Brian, Kristen, Mason, Sarah, Jessica, Ryan, Evan, Ethan, Nicholas, Gabe, Roman, Paul, Stephanie, Nicole, Jason, Kyle, Rhiannon and Shamus. Great-grandmother of Ava, Dylan and Logan. Dear sister of Louis Murphy. Aunt of Michael and Tony Giannelli.
    The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94(1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, N.J., on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2016, from 6-9 p.m. Cremation is private.
