George C. Schwarz, a 53-year resident of Wantage and a retired motor vehicle inspector for the State of New Jersey, passed away Sept. 11, 2016, at Newton Medical Center. He was 80.
A son of the late George A. and Stella Kulesa Schwarz, he was born April 29, 1936 in Weehawken and was a graduate of Lincoln Technical Institute of Newark.
Mr. Schwarz served in the U. S. Navy from 1956-60. He was a parishioner and former usher at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Hardyston, a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Gen. Judson Kilpatrick Council 5563, and a member of the Friends of the Old Clove Church Committee in Wantage.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Rebecca, a son, George V. of Hamilton Township, a daughter, Amy E., of Lafayette and her husband, Leon Richards, a brother, Hilary, of Kerrville, TX and his wife, Ellen, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Jane Vidas.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank St. (Route 23), Sussex. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 4-24 Beaver Run Road, Hardyston. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, North Church Road, Hardyston.
