Elmer C. McCollum, Jr.

Elmer C. McCollum, Jr., age 68, passed away on Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at Barnhill Care Center in Newton. Born in Newton to the late Elmer C. McCollum, Sr. and Marjorie E. (Kishpaugh) McCollum, Elmer was a lifelong resident of Sussex County. He worked for the former Hamm's Sanitation and retired from Waste Management 15 years ago. Elmer was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Newton. Elmer was predeceased by his sister, Wilma Drake. He is survived by his devoted niece, Margie Kent and her husband, Jesse, with whom he lived with for the past 12 years; his niece, Mary Reiman and her husband Jerry of Sussex; his son, Elmer, of Pennsylvania; his daughter, Tammy of Pennsylvania; his brothers, Richard McCollum of Newton and Kenneth McCollum of Lafayette; his sisters, Ruth Kays of Newton, Betty Whitaker of Pennsylvania, and Shirley VanOrden of Middletown, N.Y.; his grandchildren; great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, at the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. Friends may pay their respects to the family on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at Newton Cemetery.
