On Saturday, while Walnut Ridge Primary School held its annual Fall Harvest Open House, Dominic D'Arco, a Vernon Township High School senior, was busy at work in front of the school.
His project to become an Eagle Scout is making a brick pad for the school’s new flag poles.
Working with his father Steve D'Arco and Boy Scout Troop 912 Scout Leader John Forrest, he was very busy preparing the ground for the pad. Later in the day additional scouts came to assist him in his efforts.
According to Forrest, Dominic will be the troop’s 10th Eagle Scout, which is all about learn to plan and lead others. The project is planned to be completed in the very near future.
Dominic has been a scout with the troop for over six years.
According to Forrest, “He has developed leadership skills by helping younger scouts learn skills so that they may move up through the scout ranks. Dominic has a great ability to communicate in front of a group as he has livened up our Court of Honors over the years.”
Forrest added that Dominic has learned the importance of sticking with something that will follow him the rest of his life saying, “Dominic is a good example of an Eagle Scout.”
