| 22 Sep 2016 | 02:21

There will be a "Recovery is Real" Community Listening Forum on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at Sussex Community College County.
The school is located at 1 College Hill Road.
Hear from individuals and family members in long-term recovery, addiction and recovery specialists and law enforcement as they offer insight and solutions to substance use disorders. Light refreshments will be provided.
Special invited guests include police who have administered life-saving Narcan between Jan. 1, 2015, and June 30, 2016 to individuals experiencing symptoms of drug overdose in Sussex County. The general public is invited and encouraged to attend this free event commemorating Recovery Month 2016, which celebrates recovery and encourages individuals with a mental and/or substance use disorder to seek treatment, striving for a healthy, happy life. The evening will feature people in long-term recovery and family members who have lost loved ones due to addiction.
Sussex County law enforcement officers, equipped with naloxone, have taken a crucial role in reversing overdoses in our communities, allowing many people another chance at life and recovery. This event will acknowledge their efforts, creating additional awareness of this important community service. Local resources and information on recovery supports will be available to everyone attending. Please come out and show support for law enforcement and learn more about how to get involved in efforts to reduce substance use disorders and be a part of the solution to substance use disorders in our county and state.
