Wantage man arrested for carrying a handgun

    On Sept. 25 at 11:13 p.m., Ptl. Jose Morales of the Newton Police Department stopped a Chevrolet pick-up truck on Water Street for speeding.
    The operator was identified to be Duncan Graham, 22, of Valley Road in Wantage, police said.
    From outside the vehicle, officers observed a handgun to be present on the rear floor within reach of the driver. This handgun was a fully loaded Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm which was owned by Graham but he did not have a permit to carry a handgun, authorities said.
    As a result, Graham was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of Weapon (2nd Degree). Graham was also issued a summons for speeding.
    He was lodged in the Sussex County Jail in default of $50,000 bail, no 10 percent, set by Judge John E. Mulhern, police said.
