    Ruth K. Hook, 42, of Lafayette was sentenced to four years of probation on condition that she serve 364 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility, which the court will allow the defendant to serve on the In-Home Detention Program.
    She must also undergo a mental health evaluation and follow all recommendations, submit a DNA sample, complete 200 hours of community service, write a 500 word letter of apology to the victim’s family, pay $46,000 in restitution, have no contact with the victim’s family and pay $155 in court fines/fees.
    She pleaded guilty on June 29, 2016 to third degree theft.
    The defendant was employed by a Stillwater family as a caretaker. Over a period of several years the defendant made purchases totaling approximately $99,000 on the victim’s debit and credit cards.
    Hook was represented by John Somohano and the state was represented by Assistant Prosecutor Brent M. Rafuse.

    Oct. 4

    Nelson Jimenez, 27, of Newton pleaded guilty to driving with a suspended licenes for a second or subsequent driving while intoxicated violation, a fourth-degree crime.
    Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 6, 2017.
    On Nov. 19, 2015, New Jersey State Police were dispatched to a single car motor vehicle accident in Hampton Township. In pleading guilty, the defendant admitted to operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and while his license was suspended for a prior driving while intoxicated violation.
