Dupont to speak at Sussex-Wantage library

    Local historian Ron Dupont will present ‘The Wallkill: River of History’ at the Sussex–Wantage Branch Library on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m.
    This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library. The presentation covers the history of the Wallkill River refuge area from prehistoric times up to the present. It includes many historic photographs, and covers diverse topics including mastodons, cedar swamps, Native American history, early settlers, land drainage efforts, and more.
    Dupont is a lifelong resident of Vernon who has been researching and writing about local history for over 30 years. This program, which was originally prepared for the Friends of the Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge, is for adults.
    Registration begins Thursday, Oct. 13.
