Jan Vandenberg

    Jan Vandenberg, 94 years old, died after a long illness at Schervier Pavillion in Warwick, N.Y., on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2016. Born to Pieter and Gerarda Vandenberg in the Netherlands, he came to the United States in 1950 settling in Jersey City, NJ, he then lived in Vernon Twp., N.J., for many years before moving to Warwick, N.Y., 4 years ago.
    Jan worked as a custodian for St. Francis deSales RC Church, Vernon Twp., NJ for many years retiring in 2013. He was a parishioner of St. Francis deSales RC Church, an accomplished artist and fondly remembered his bicycle tour of Europe as a young man.
    Jan was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth “Betsy” Vandenberg(2003) and was the devoted uncle of Frank Ketterer of North Bergen, NJ, Peter Ketterer of Clayton, Del., Claire Haifield of Hauser, ID, Martin Ketterer of Jeffersonville, Ind., and John Ketterer of Fairview, Ore. Cherished by many grand nieces and grand nephews.
    The familyd their friends at St. Francis deSales RC Church, 614 Route 517, Vernon, NJ on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 from 3 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial as at the church on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Madonna Cemetery, Fort Lee, N.J.
