The Vernon Township Education Association is sponsoring a “Meet the Candidates Night” on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at 7 p.m. at Vernon Township High School.
The voting public will get to hear the views and objectives from each of the candidates running for the available positions on the Vernon Township Board of Education. The invited candidates are William Higgins, Robert Hughes, Lori LePera, Lauren Magee and David Zweier.
Each candidate is vying for one of three, three-year terms with the exception of Mr. Higgins who is running unopposed for a two-year position.
Each candidate will have the opportunity to give a two-minute presentation in which they will be able to introduce themselves to the public. Afterward, each candidate will then be asked three questions by the evening’s moderator, VTEA President, Liz Cleary, relating to a range of local, state and national educationally relevant topics. The candidates will have two minutes to respond to each of the questions. There will be no open Question and Answer session or debate between candidates.
The VTEA believes that the best decision by voters is an informed decision and encourages all Vernon Township residents to attend this educational event.
    Light refreshments will be served.
