VERNON — Josh Gottheimer, congressional Candidate in the upcoming 2016 election for New Jersey’s Fifth District, met with Mayor Harry J. Shortway and Mishelle Downtain, Department of Recreation and Community Development on Thursday, Oct. 6. Township officials provided Mr. Gottheimer a tour of Vernon and discussed different ways Congressional support would benefit the township to grow and prosper.
The tour included a coffee stop at the Mixing Bowl Restaurant where Josh engaged local residents who described their concerns. Josh listened intently as Mayor Shortway described the hurdles the Township faces and how assistance from higher levels of government would be welcomed and appreciated.
The Congressional Candidate enjoyed the natural beauty of the Township. He took in sights such as the Appalachian Boardwalk Trail, various farms, Mountain Creek, Town Center, and the many lake communities along with the numerous homes for sale. Mr. Gottheimer promised to assist the Township officials in their vision to make Vernon a thriving four season community.
