Time for a halt in the bear hunt

I live near the edge of Sparta Mountain, where I use to see many bears coming via the mountain, our lake, into the Lake Stockholm community. My family, including grandchildren never had a problem with bears. We even tried to buy a parcel of land on the lake to save it for wildlife. Yes, I get a kick out of bears, dear, foxes, and other animals.
I saw Pedals some years back in a yard that I lived with my family in Jefferson Township, and later saw him walking upright on road out of our community called Holland Mountain Road. Pedals, according to friends, appeared in West Milford, Oak Ridge, and relatively distant Rockaway. He was a harmless, and a handicapped bear with his paws and upright stature!.
The use of bow and other guns has severely taken a toll on the bear population. The most recent total of bears shot by bow and/or guns was 549, and that now officially includes Pedals. I am in full agreement with Senator Lesniak’s Bill so appropriately named the Pedals Bill. It is time for a moratorium, and a look for more non-lethal methods. Now we are waiting a second hunt on these animals that are often funny, and I for one have been in close proximity. I am not against hunting, but these are magnificent animals.
Please support Lesniak’s Bill. Many of us have heard the hunter looked for three years to kill this bear. I know people, as far as, West Orange, are troubled about making bears extinct, and the death of this above bear! In any event, cubs certainly should be off limit.
