Trails of Vernon challengers reaching goals

The mileage logs are coming in as Challengers are reaching the 50-mile goal and they are beyond excited to receive their Certificates of Completion.
There has been an abundance of positive feedback about this fun program all around — from emails and telephone calls to people coming in person just to say how much they enjoyed the Trail Challenge; how it motivated them to get active outside and has been the catalyst for healthier lifestyles.
There are Challengers of all ages — as individuals and as groups, entire families even signed up to do as their together activity. Many people do not realize the amount of public trails we actually have here in Vernon and the Challenge led them to discover places they had never been to, but now plan on going back to.
The challenge goes until Nov. 15, at which point the Vernon Board of Recreation will judge the photos submitted for the contest and the winners will receive a prize donated by local businesses. The contest photos will be displayed in the halls of the Municipal Building for everyone to enjoy.
For those who have not picked up their free trail bags yet, they are still available at the following places: Smokey’s Tavern, Heaven Hill Farm, Healthy Thymes Market, Pochucks Market, Lake Wanda Store, Sculley’s Tavern, Wallkill National Wildlife Refuge.
