Local performers and church music programs will be highlighted in the Annual Community Concert, to be held at Vernon United Methodist Church on Dec. 10.
The event is open to the public and free of charge. This year’s concert, with the theme “A Season of Love,” begins at 7 p.m., and is filled with family-friendly music to celebrate community values and the holiday season.
“The concert is an opportunity to be fully engaged with the local community in Sussex County. It’s a great time to celebrate the values we cherish – family, unity, and the gifts of the Christmas season. 2016 has been a year filled with great tension, and we look forward to an evening of joyful togetherness,” says Vernon UMC’s Music Director Heidi Della Pesca. Reverend Eunice Vega-Perez will be officiating, and expects a capacity crowd at the much-anticipated annual event.
Scheduled performances include presentations by the Vernon Choir, the Vernon Bell Choir, which is newly re-formed after more than a decade, local soprano and music teacher Nicole DeLoi, of “Owls and Lions,” a popular local folk duo, and an appearance by singer-songwriter Eugene Steficek, former Music Director at Vernon UMC, who has gone on to an exciting musical career in the broader New York area.
Sussex county musicians and performers interested in participating in the concert are invited to contact the church’s music director via email at VUMCMusic@gmail.com no later than Nov. 28, for details.
The Vernon United Methodist Church is in the Skylands District of the Greater NJ Annual Conference.
