What does a Trump Administration mean?

First, we can see the largest tax cuts, since Reagan, which benefit those at the top, but will decimate the social safety net. We can see a “big increase in defense spending” and a major deregulation of business, which also includes a large number of mergers and Acquisitions. You can bet you will see the erasure of Dodd-Frank banking reforms, which means where back to square one on causes of the last recession — banks too big to fail.
Second, we will see an end to climate change efforts, such as, the recent Paris accord that had many nations signing on to limit pollutants, and China and India will continue their pace of polluting. Big Coal in America got a big break, and can resume the mining of coal, and the polluting of our atmosphere. Obama’s Clean Power Plan to restrict carbon emissions and fight climate change will be wiped out along with all his successes of the last eight years.
Third, Trump’s foreign policy, as defined by his America First, seemingly will have more pop, but less associations with NATO, and Obama’s Asian reset. Isolation is a risky process, but he is the President. Russia will appreciate the isolation to regain its Soviet Union status, and will be encouraged to move into the Middle East, while China with the Philippines already in flux will see no American reset to Asia. He will try to undo the Iran deal, but again there are great consequences.
Fourth, My friend Wendie will no longer have to worry about her TPP Trade protests in Newton, as the treaty is dead, but there will be no wall with Mexico, and NAFTA will cease, along with at least another one, two, or three judges to roll back Abortion Rights, and other recent mandates, and immigrants will face hardships. Will American prosper? My guess is NO!
