Vernon MUA blunders

I was dismayed to hear that VFW Post 8441 has been requested by some members of the Vernon MUA to resubmit its application for a mandatory sewer hookup that will be twice the rate of what was agreed upon in August. This was done behind closed doors without the prior knowledge of the other commissioners. At the time the two VFW veterans, who were asked to attend this private meeting, felt intimidated by these MUA members and the professionals who were present. This has been discussed and debated for over two years.
It is absolutely outrageous to put these veterans through this type of treatment. A man’s word should mean something and to go back on that is wrong. I find it very difficult to comprehend that the Vernon MUA would have such disregard for these brave former soldiers who sacrificed everything for this country.
The MUA commissioners should always be working for the common good of the people and that does not seem to be the case in this situation. Thankfully Sally Rinker, as she has done so many times before, is bridging the gap for the veterans of VFW Post 8441 and will continue to act on their behalf.
Every day we have choices that are affected by our values, our dreams and our faith. I believe it is now up to the Vernon MUA to correct their mistake and do the right thing for these veterans. As a people, we are what we tolerate and truth must never be sacrificed for politics.
