Letter writer misinformed

I believe Vernon resident Christa Gerry is a good person, but she is very misinformed and lacks discernment. Her letter to the editor about the Vernon MUA and VFW is grossly uninformed. Gerry implies wrongdoing for a meeting she alleges was “behind closed doors,” where there was no wrongdoing whatsoever. What’s worse, however, is that Gerry praises Sally Rinker for “bridging the gap, as she has done so many times before” for people.
Gerry states, “Truth will ultimately prevail where there is pains taken to bring it to light.” By writing this letter I am “taking the pain” to bring something else to light.
The Land Use Board’s resolution of approval for the National Winter Activity Center (NWAC) specifies that NWAC shall meet with the Environmental Commission to discuss and resolve the commission’s concerns and the environmental damage during construction at the ski resort.
As chairperson for the Environmental Commission, however, Sally Rinker told her fellow Environmental Commissioners in writing they were prohibited from going to the NWAC site to do their legally advertised and scheduled site inspection, despite the resolution of approval. Yet, Rinker and EC vice-chairperson Diane Wexler went on a secret site visit the very next day by themselves on Sept. 13, without the knowledge or consent of the rest of the commissioners, and on September 14 gave a false report to the Land Use Board about those environmental concerns, again without the knowledge or consent of the Environmental Commission.
I wonder if Ms. Gerry will take the pains to write a letter to the editor about that secret meeting “behind closed doors” that Sally Rinker had and again praise her for it?
