Shirley Nagle passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2016, at the Newton Memorial Hospital. Shirley was born on July 14, 1926, in Hamburg to the late Ernest and Estella (nee Peterson) Conner. Shirley had lived most of her life in Vernon and wintered in Port Richey, Fla.
Shirley retired in 1989 after serving 32 years as the Court Administrator of Vernon Township. Prior to that she was employed by the Warwick Valley Telephone Company. Shirley was a member of the New Jersey Court Administrator's Association. She loved Polka music and country music. She enjoyed canning tomatoes and making cabbage rolls for her family and friends. Shirley loved to travel and go for car rides.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, William E. Nagle, Sr. in 1996 and a son, William E. Nagle, Jr. in 1977, and her siblings, Margaret Kelly, Harry Conner, Ethel Parker, and Maxine Renouf.
Shirley is survived by her brother, Merrill Conner of Exton, Pa., her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Slegers and her grandson, Sean Slegers both of Long Valley, N.J., and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends were received on Monday, Jan. 2 from 5-8 p.m. at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94, Vernon, N.J. (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Court), and are invited to attend funeral services at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 11 a.m., committal interment services follow at North Hardyston Cemetery, Hardyston Township, N.J. In lieu of flowers, donations to the William E. Nagle Jr. Scholarship Fund c/o James Watson; Wallkill Valley Regional High School, 10 Grumm Road, Hardyston, NJ 07419 would be appreciated.
