Ice Carnival coming to Skylands Stadium

Taking the family out for a day at the carnival has long been a favorite summer pastime. But what if there was a carnival you could visit in the winter? And what if the rides, games and attractions were made entirely of ice?
This Feb. 3-26, Skylands Stadium invites you to come out and play at the first ever Frozen in Ice: Carnival.
Through the doors of the event center at Skylands Stadium, a giant, glistening arctic playground unfolds. A hulking ice Ferris Wheel stretches tall above you, while the ornate horses of an ice carousel glimmer nearby. Glide over to the ice roller coaster car and pose for a picture, as you imagine being whisked through the air in this faux-machine, expertly carved by the artists from Sculpted Ice Works.
Though the Ferris Wheel, carousel and roller coaster are just for show, offering impressive photo opportunities, the twin ice slides at the center of the room invite exciting playtime for young and old. Adults can coast down a 50-foot ice slide and children can enjoy their own miniature slide.
The carnival experience, of course, is far more than just rides. Step right up to win a prize at your favorite carnival games, all of which have been sculpted from mammoth blocks of ice. Or try your hand at traditional wood-frame carnival games in the upstairs portion of the event center. After you have worked up an appetite, buy yourself a treat at a candy store constructed completely from ice. While the kids satisfy their sweet tooth, the adults can relax in the ice lounge or at the ice bar and sip on tasty wine and wintry cocktails. Hot food and beverages will also be for sale, from hot chocolate and coffee to hot dogs, hamburgers and much more.
The icy fun continues outdoors. Up on the right field picnic pavilion, professional ice artists will be performing live ice carving demonstrations and facing off in exciting ice carving competitions where you can help judge their creations. Also on the pavilion, warm up by a crackling fire and make your own s’mores at the fire pit. On the Skylands Stadium baseball field, families can gather to build snowmen.
The Frozen In Ice: Carnival is presented by the talented artists from Sculpted Ice Works who carve and build everything inside the carnival from giant blocks of ice. Over 100 tons of ice is transformed for this spectacle and the Skylands Stadium Event Center is kept near freezing temperature to keep the sculptures intact, so please remember to dress warmly.
