Are you someone now living in recovery from addiction to alcohol or other drugs? Do you love someone with a substance use disorder? Would you like to learn people-first language about addiction and recovery, leaving all the stigma-laden discourse behind?
Join thousands of others who have sharpened their skills as recovery communicators, telling their story with a purpose, through a messaging training developed by Faces & Voices of Recovery. Learn how to effectively share your recovery story as a person, family member or friend in recovery with others, even the media or policy makers.
The ‘Our Stories Have Power’ Recovery Community Messaging training will be held in Newton at The Center’s satellite office at 65 Newton-Sparta Road, NJ on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10-12:30 p.m.
This free training is being presented by recovery support professionals of The Center for Prevention and Counseling in Newton, N.J. After attending the “Our Stories Have Power” Recovery Community Messaging training, you will feel more confident about how and when to be a positive carrier of your own personal experience and recovery. Here’s what others had to say about taking the training, “I knew how to talk about my story among people in my recovery support meetings, but this training appropriately prepared me to bring my message of hope out into the public, to help others.”
Light refreshments will be provided. For more information or to RSVP, contact Katie at katie@centerforprevention.org or call (973)383-4787, Ext. 222.
