On Friday, Jan. 6, over 150 resorts across the United States and Canada joined together to attempt a Guinness World Record for the second annual World’s Largest Ski & Snowboard Lesson. This was the second attempt to break two consecutive world records, for simultaneous ski and snowboard lessons at multiple venues.
Last year, Mountain Creek took the top spot but this year, Wachusset Mountain (MA) took the first place spot with 168 participants, with Mountain Creek coming in second with 163 participants. Other resorts that topped the list include Ski Butternut (MA) with 130, Holiday Valley (NY) with 103 and Ski Bradford (MA) with 100 participants.
The World’s Largest Ski and Snowboard Lesson serves at an unofficial kick off to the January’s Learn-To Ski & Snowboard Month, where you can score great promotions and packages for learning the snow sports in over 250 participating resorts in the U.S.
“It’s not about how many people come out, but its all about creating a lasting connection and giving them the opportunity to come out and ski or snowboard when they might have not had opportunity otherwise.” stated by Ski and Snowboard School Director Timothy Stone, “This was a free event and we had a ton of people who were extremely grateful for the opportunity.”
In order to break the record, proper documentation and procedures are necessary at each resort and final results will be determined by the record verification team at Guinness to confirm the record attempts as well as the final numbers. Official results will be announced.
