Avian Wildlife Center plans fundraiser

Cold weather brings birds flocking to feeders for seed.
The Avian Wildlife Center is encouraging people to attract birds and support their work by purchasing black oil sunflower seed in their winter fundraiser. The Center is selling locally grown seed in 10-, 25- or 50-pound bags. The bags sell for $8.99, $17.99, and $29.99. Seed should be pre-ordered by mailing a check payable to the Avian Wildlife Center, 146 Neilson Road, Wantage, N.J. 07461. Include name, phone number, and email.
The sunflower seed, a favored food for many birds, is grown at Brodhecker Farm. Prepaid orders can be picked up at the Farm store at 2 Branchville Lawson Road, Newton during store hours through February. People can also arrange to pick up seed at the Avian WIldlife Center in Wantage. Purchase of the seed will help the Center raise money to improve their intensive care housing for injured owls and also supports local farmland. For more information email the Center at avianwildlife@aol.com or phone (973) 702-1957.
