Vernon schools honor outstanding athletes

VERNON — The Vernon Township High School Athleteic Dept. honored its Athletes of the Week for Week 7 of the winter season.
Sophomore Madi DeVries has been a real asset to this year’s Varsity Girls Basketball Team. Last season, Madi stepped right into a varsity starting position as a freshman and led the team in rebounding. This year her value is just as important playing multiple positions on the court, ranging from point guard to center.
Assistant Coach Ocello states that she is a true leader and role model for all the girls in the program.
Sophomore Bryce Journey recently took 8th place among all individuals at the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Annual Bowling Tournament held at Sparta Lanes. Eleven teams competed in the event.
Bryce’s scores for the day were 182/234/201 for a 617 series.
According to Coach Quinn, Bryce has been a consistent bowler and leader of the team all year.
