DAR plans annual awards luncheon

LAFAYETTE — The Chinkchewunksa Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will honor county residents at its annual awards luncheon on Saturday, Feb. 25, at noon at the Lafayette House.
The Community Service award recipient is Joan Thomas who runs the Sussex Help Center. She is an active and dedicated volunteer, sharing her leadership skills with many local families.
The Heritage and Agriculture Association/Friends of Lusscroft Farm will receive the Historic Preservation award for their tireless dedication to preserving the historic Lusscroft Farm.
The History award will be presented to Alex Everitt of Lafayette for his dedication to the history of Sussex county. Alex has served of the president of the Sussex County Historical Society and is currently a board member.
Chinkchewunska Chapter presents the Ramsey-Cooper Award each year in honor of those who have generously and tirelessly helped and supported our chapter and museum, the Elias Van Bunshooten museum on Route 23 in Wantage. This year that award goes to Charles Checkur “Mingo Lodge” and Paul J. Checkur.
