Vernon council to meet Thursday

The Vernon Township Council will meet Thursday night instead of its usual MOnday night timeslot as the office was closed on Feb. 13 in honor of President Abraham Lincoln's birthday.

The council will discuss and possibly approve appointing Mishelle Downtain as director of recreation.

The council also is in the process of preparing its budget for the 2017 fiscal year and immediately before the meeting on Thursday will hold a budget work session at 5 p.m. The council will discuss budget requests from the Police Dept., Department of Public Works, Community Affairs/Senior Citizens Dept. and the Finance budget.

Additional budget workshops will fe held on Monday, Feb. 27 at 5 p.m.

The council will hold a third budget session on Monday, March 6 at 6 p.m.
