Vernon falls in state tourney first round

Jackson Liberty High School defeated Vernon Township High School, 4-3 in varsity ice hockey on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Skylands Ice World in Stockholm in the first round of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament first round.
Joe Granza and Nick Labianca each scored twice for 19th-seeded Jackson Liberty in a 4-3 victory over 14th-seeded Vernon.
Joe D'Andrea and Zach D'Andrea combined to contribute four assists for Jackson Liberty (9-9-3). Goalie Brendan Sheerin made 33 saves.
Shane Brennan and T.J. Santaita both had a goal and an assist for Vernon (21-4-2). Patrick Graham scored a goal. Jason Bruce and Thomas Rowen had an assist apiece.
