Charles Peter Jacobs

Charles Peter Jacobs, Sr., 82 years old, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 1, 2017. Born to Herman and Edith Jacobs in Brooklyn, NY, he has lived in the Lake Wallkill section of Vernon Twp., NJ since 1949.
Charles served with the United States Army during the Korean War and then worked as the Maintenance Manager for Lake Wallkill Community for 38 years retiring in 1999. Charles was a member and Past Exalted Ruler of the Sussex Elks Lodge # 2288 B.P.O.E. as well as Past District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler and Past State Trustee. He was also a member of the Pvt. Charles Auberger American Legion Post #213, Sussex, N.J., and a Charter Member of the Pochuck Valley Fire Department.
Charles is predeceased by a daughter, Peggy Sue Jacobs (1967), a brother, Edward Jacobs and 2 sisters, Mildred Keller and Irene Perdon and is the beloved husband for 55 years of Jane Jacobs(nee Lescheck) of Lake Wallkill, NJ. Devoted father of Charles P. Jacobs, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Holliston, MA and Richard Jacobs and his wife, Michelle of Sparta, NJ. Loving grandfather of Brian, Zachary and Justin Jacobs. Dear brother of Robert Jacobs and his wife, Karen of Hackettstown, NJ. Brother in law of Irene Kimble, Geraldine Little and Marion Lescheck. Cherished by many nieces and nephews.
The family received their friends at Ferguson Funeral Home, 27 Third Street, Sussex, NJ on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Clove Cemetery, Wantage Twp., NJ. Memorial gifts to Compassionate Care Hospice, 350 Sparta Avenue, Bldg. B, Suite 2, Sparta, NJ 07871 would be appreciated.
