On the birthday of Dr. Seuss, all fourth-grade students and some second-grade students at Cedar Mountain Primary School in Vernon Township connected with author Lauren Tarshis of the I Survived series via a webinar hosted by Learning Ally.
Lauren detailed her unlikely journey from struggling reader to children's author. She answered students questions about her life as an author — how she researches her books, the challenges she faces, how she develops her characters and plots, how she writes draft after draft after draft.
She gave students insight into the writing and research process and aimed to inspire them to overcome obstacles — as she did — to achieve their highest goals.
