The next installment of the Big Apple Comedy Club brings four of New York City’s best comics to The Newton Theatre on Saturday, June 10, at 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, March 10, at 10 a.m.
The comedians are Andrew Kennedy, Erin Jackson, Ophira Eisenberg and Joey Vega. With four comedians for one price, the Big Apple Comedy Club is a great night out at a great value.
Andrew Kennedy was born in Colombia and spent most of his formative years in South America, the Caribbean and the Far East. His mother is Colombian and father British, neither of who could understand the other. By the time he was 13, Andrew had also lived in Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Hong Kong, and the United States, settling in Connecticut (his father got fired a lot). He joined the National Guard his junior year in high school and, at 17, was the youngest in his battalion at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Andrew shares his story live on stage around the world. Andrew developed, produced and starred in his own television pilot for CBS. His half hour Comedy Central special was voted one of the network's Top 20. He has been seen on The Very Funny Show on TBS, Comedy Central's Premium Blend, SiTV's Spanglish 101, Baby Madness on Discovery Channel and NickMom Night Out.
Armed with a megawatt smile and a pocket full of dreams, Erin Jackson is poised to conquer the world of stand-up. Since first making a name for herself at colleges and east coast comedy clubs, Erin’s conversational style and relatable humor have helped to propel her onto the national stage. Erin was a semi-finalist on the 2014 reboot of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, and co-hosts Exhale, a provocative and candid talk series, now in its third season on Magic Johnson’s ASPiRE television network. Erin can be seen nightly in many of New York City’s top comedy clubs, and has also performed stand-up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, OWN’s Wanda Sykes Presents Herlarious, Comedy Central and other television shows. She has appeared on VH-1 and TV Guide Network as a panelist on pop-culture countdown shows, and her writing has been featured in The Washington Post and on NYTimes.com.
Ophira Eisenberg is the host of NPR’s and WNYC’s new weekly game show, Ask Me Another. Ophira has performed all over American television and in her very own comedy special for CTV’s Comedy Now in Canada. Ophira has been featured in the New Times Picks, New York Post’s “The 50 Best Bits That Crack Up Pro Comics”, selected by BackStage as one of “10 Standout Stand Ups Worth Watching” and regularly hailed as a “Highly Recommended Favorite” by Time Out New York magazine. Ophira’s debut memoir, Screw Everyone: Sleeping My Way to Monogamy is available now. Ophira’s writing has been featured in five other anthologies including, I Killed: True Stories of the Road from America’s Top Comics alongside that of Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Dennis Miller and Joan Rivers, Rejected: Tales of the Failed, Dumped, and Canceled, and Heeb Magazine’s Sex, Drugs, and Gelfite Fish. Her stories have also been featured on the Audience Favorites CD, podcast, and award winning radio show. The rest of the time you can find her New York City’s best comedy clubs.
New York favorite Joey Vega has been entertaining audiences his whole adult life. As an actor, he has been featured in such high profile films as Rounders with Matt Damon, Row Your Boat, An Eastside Story, and Punchline with Tom Hanks. On television Joey is ever-present, landing roles on The Sopranos, Law and Order and Trinity. Joey was also a staff writer on Lopez Tonight. “Acting is great, but performing comedy in front of a live audience is my first love.” Whether it’s a packed house at Trump Castle or in front of 20,000 people at Madison Square Garden as both Marc Anthony and Chris Rock’s favorite opening act, Joe has so much fun on stage that you can’t help but have a great time watching him. Joe has appeared on all the major comedy shows too, including Comedy Central’s Comic Groove, A&E’s Comedy On The Road, Caroline’s Comedy Hour, FOX’s Comic Strip Live and many others.
