    Dennis E. Golden, 70, died Wednesday March 15, 2017, at St. Anthony’s Community Hospital in Warwick, N.Y. Mr. Golden, son of the late Edward and Muriel (Singer) Golden was born in Englewood May 8, 1946. He grew up in Palisades Park, attending Saint Cecelia’s High School in Englewood. He later graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.A. Degree in English and a minor in Mathematics.
    Upon his marriage to Kathleen Denistran in October 1980, Mr. Golden Moved to the Glenwood section of Vernon. He taught Social Science and English at Vernon Twp. High School. He was known as the “Jeopardy Guy” having been the game show Grand Champion in 1974, (the last year it was filmed in New York). He was also the Advertising Manager for WIXL/WNNJ Radio for several years.
    Mr. Golden took great pride as Assistant Scoutmaster to Boy Scout Troop 61 in Leonia in the mid to late 1970’s and was happiest while he was mentoring young people. He was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan, a gifted model railroader and enjoyed reunions with his high school classmates, “Saints” Class of ’64.
    He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathleen (Denistran) Golden; sister in law & brother in law, Pat and Bill Horwitz of Hamburg; niece Sarah Horwitz of Medford, MA and many cousins in Bergen County, New England and Mississippi and his “Beloved Four-Legged Buddy, Russell.”
    A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday April 1, 2017, 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church 184 Breakneck Rd. Highland Lakes, NJ 07422. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association 1 Union St., Suite 301 Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38101-9908. Services are under the direction of Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94 Vernon.
